The treasure of the grace of God through faith in Jesus is not something easily believed. When grasped, the magnitude seems incomprehensible. Utterly fantastical. Beyond reason or understanding!
That is why it is lifted so high, taken so deep, and clenched so tightly!
May our lives be reformed because of this ecstatic truth!
St. Paul’s letter to the Church in Galatia is one filled with love, confusion, hurt, and hope. In it we see his love for these people that he labored among and his deep love for them.
But they are being misled and told different things in his absence. A “different Gospel” is being propagated, nullifying his work and, more importantly, endangering their faith and salvation.
This won’t do!
Paul lovingly chastises them and remind them that a “different gospel” is really NO Gospel!
St. Paul loves the people in the churches he’s visited.
That is true with the Church in Galatian, too.
He labored there for some time and then was absent for some time.
While absent, some of the Jews were trying to convince the Gentile believers that they had to fulfill all of the Law and regulations (even though they themselves couldn’t!), contrary to what Jesus and the Gospel is all about.
In this sermon series, we will walk through the book where Paul works to correct this fatal error cropping in to the Church – lovingly, but firmly!
We hope you’ll join us for this Galatians sermon series!
