GOOD FRIDAY, 2020

On Friday, April 10, at 7:00 PM, we will worship and “celebrate” Good Friday with a form of a “Service of Darkness.”

CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED.

More information on “Good Friday” and a “Service of Darkness” from
lifebridgesealy.com/ministries/worship/good-friday/.

“Good Friday.” Such a strange name for the day when the innocent Savior of humanity and God’s Son died horribly. Yet, for us, the day marks a pivotal event in history. A holy and unbelievable imbalanced exchange: His perfection and innocence for our sins and guilt.

And twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head and put a reed in His right hand. And kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they spit on Him and took the reed and struck Him on the head. And when they had mocked Him, they stripped Him of the robe and put His own clothes on Him and led Him away to crucify Him.

Matthew 27:29-31

Lord, have mercy!

And He did. Have mercy. For us. When we were still in sin and rebellion.

We worship and “celebrate” this event and exchange with a form of a “Tenebrae” service. Tenebrae means “darkness” and the service takes its name from the ceremony of extinguishing the worship candles in such a way that the Church is gradually cast into darkness, except for the light of a single candle. The focus of the Tenebrae is the consequence of sin and the magnitude of Jesus’ sacrifice. The worship ends in darkness and silence, symbolizing our Savior’s death upon the cross. The single candle symbolizes the hope of our Savior’s resurrection. At the completion of the Tenebrae service, the worshipers are asked to leave in silence, in order to maintain the spirit of the Good Friday commemoration of our Savior’s crucifixion.

Experience the depth of God’s love for you on Good Friday so that you can sour with the news of His resurrection on Easter Sunday!

You will be blessed.

PALM / PASSION SUNDAY, 2020

Join us on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at 10:00 AM to celebrate Palm/Passion Sunday!

More information on Palm/Passion Sunday at:
lifebridgesealy.com/ministries/worship/palm-passion-sunday/.

Palm (or Passion) Sunday marks “The Triumphant Entry” of Jesus into Jerusalem and the start of the events of Holy Week.

They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and He sat on them. Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before Him and that followed Him were shouting,

“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Matthew 21:7-9

The crowds who welcomed Jesus as a prophet and king will soon turn against Him with shouts of “Crucify Him!

We do this as well.

One minute we’re praising the Lord; the next we betray, deny, and slap Him in the face with our sins.

Yet He loves us. Yet He forgives us. Yet He continues to draw us to Himself.

Amazing!

Come and join us for worship on Palm Sunday and welcome Him in as your King and Savior.

OPERATION FREEDOM: Be The Light

Starting this Lent, LifeBridge will engage in “OPERATION
FREEDOM: Be The Light!”
The first endeavor of this LifeBridge ministry will
take place this Lenten season as we conduct a community service project to fill
“GoBags” to aid the victims of human trafficking in Houston.

What is a “GoBag”

Rescue America works with victims of sex trafficking, providing emergency rescue services and helps to reintegrate victims back into society. These bags will go to these victims to help in this process. LifeBridge will work with The Freedom Church Alliance (who supplies the bags and many more resources for the Church to fight the scourge of sex trafficking) to collect the needed supplies and help many victims.

Our goal is 75 bags and will run from Sunday, March 1, until Easter, Sunday, April 12.

See below for a card with the contents needed for each bag. PLEASE NOTE THE BAG COLORS/SIZES and PUT IN ALL AND ONLY THOSE ITEMS LISTED. No changes or substitutions, please.

Along with the bags, our sermon series for Lent will also touch on some of the many facets of human trafficking and what our Call, as followers of Jesus, means in the context of this needed fight!

Thank you for being a part of the solution to fight human trafficking!

SEDER, 2019

On Thursday, April 18, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary, LifeBridge will celebrate a Seder Meal. (“Seder” means “order.”)

NOTE: Due to the great amount of preparations needed for this event, we need a good tally of how many people will be coming. As such, there is a sign-up sheet in the sanctuary and it is imperative to sign-up and let us know how many are coming (adults and children).

You will be blessed in your coming.

More information on the SEDER here.

“PASSION” – A New Sermon Series

“He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign LORD will wipe away all tears.

Isaiah 25:8a

This Lenten Season (which begins on Ash Wednesday on March 6, and culminates on Easter Sunday), we will embark on a new journey focused on the PASSION of Jesus through His suffering, life, death, and resurrection. Our theme verse is from Isaiah 25:8a: “He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign LORD will wipe away all tears.”

We will journey through this passion by primarily going through Matthew, chapters 26 and 27, covering such aspects as “The Lord’s Supper,” “Prayers in Gethsemane,” “Denial,” “Hopelessness,” “Choosing Murderers,” and “Mocking.”

Many people don’t care
for Lent. It seems dark and depressing. It is a more somber time when we put a
lot of emphasis on our sins, on Jesus’ suffering, and on repentance.

Certainly, those are
not “happy” areas. But, they are necessary
areas and, when sought and given time and focus, they can be areas of extreme
growth in faith and closeness to God.

Personally, Lent is
one of my favorite times of the year. It allows me to examine and separate more
from myself, lay myself bare before the Lord in humility and contrition, and behold
His immense love and mercy. It’s a time for me to explore the utter depth of my
depravity and sin, but even more deep His love and grace for me. It allows me
to experience the highest high of the resurrection because I’ve been to the
lowest low of my sin and His sacrifice! It allows me to participate, as much as
humanly possible, the full breath of the immense passion and love of Jesus!

How awesome is that?!

I encourage you to come and experience the PASSION and love of Jesus with us at LifeBridge. You will be blessed!

This sermon series begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6. More information is here.
