“Test the Spirits – Truth, Part 2”

THE POWER BLINKED OUT! That’s why those watching may have seen things freeze up and stop toward the very end of the sermon today. We apologize, but there was nothing we could do about that. God bless you as you live in “The Way, the Truth, and the Life,” Jesus Christ!

#TruthMatters!

We have covered that already; specifically in regard to the Truth about Jesus. John reiterates the importance of that we need to “test the spirits” – measure them to see of they are of God or not. To see if they carry the Truth or not.

There is some take-away for our world as well. It is important that we “test” our leaders and what they tell us. Is it true, or not?

It makes a difference for our nation and world because, in all things, #TruthMatters!

“By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.”

“Love One Another – Love, Part 2”

Love is the greatest commandment, but what does it look like? The greatest example, of course, is the love shown to us and the world through the sacrificial love Jesus showed by giving up everything – even His life for us! He tells us to act in the the same way.

Love isn’t just a word or concept, it is played out in action!

Let us truly love one another – in everything!

“By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

“God’s Children”

That God would call us His children is evidence of His highest love! It is truly amazing!!

Now, what do we do, now that we are His children? Do we do our best to live as members of His family, or pretend that we aren’t even a part of it?

Of course, we will sin, but have we resigned ourselves to it and given up, or do we allow for the struggle and strive toward the ways of our Father in our daily walk? This will show who our “father” is!

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

“Truth – Part 1”

#TruthMatters! That is to be realized most within Scripture and theology itself. If we get that wrong, it leads to heresy and even antichrists! It leads to eternal death. Why do we take such care of our doctrine? Because #TruthMatters! Big time!

“Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

“Love of the World – Part 1”

The world is corrupt. We know that. But that doesn’t keep us from desiring much of it – a lot! We spend so much time fulfilling our worldly desires – and to what end? What is the end of that pursuit and why is it futile – and even harmful? Finally, what are we to do about it?

“If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

“Children / Fathers / Young Adults”

The Word of God and His commandment of Love is for young and old and everything in between. But it plays out slightly differently within our different stages of life. Same message. Increasing understanding.

“Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.”

“Walking in Light”

We apologize for our technical issues today, including low sound. We are addressing it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If we are to “walk in the Light,” it means that we can’t also walk in the darkness of our sins. We either follow God’s way or ours. His is Light. Ours, darkness. The fact is, we will walk in our ways and, when we do, we need to humbly confess and let Jesus advocate on our behalf to God – and He always wins! Jesus wins! Light wins! So we win!

“Whoever keeps [God’s] word, in him truly the love of God is perfected.”

“JESUS: The Word of Life”

It wasn’t just the those who lived at the time of Jesus who were witnesses of Him; we are too! And as such, we are to give witness about Him! This doesn’t just bring others true Life, but also brings us complete joy!

“We are writing these things so that your joy may be complete.”

Truth. Love. JESUS!

This is the theme for our new sermon series on 1 John beginning Sunday, September 6, 2020!

There are some major themes in 1 John, including Truth, Obedience, Faithfulness, the Love of this World, the Love of Others, Living in the Word, and, of course, JESUS!

It’s a book that reminds us to be faithful to the Truth taught to us in the Bible and to live out that truth in Love and Actions for others – just as Jesus did for us.

This will be a proper walk through and, as such, will be a series longer than our usual ones – but well worth it!

Join us live or online on Sundays at 10:00 AM!

“It’s OK to HAVE SEX but …”

Today in our “It’s OK to … but …” series: SEX.

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Hebrews 13:4 (ESV)

Sex is one of the great gifts of God – and one of the most abused. Abused from misuse and abused from vilification.

How – and why – do we, as Christians, recapture the beauty and joy given and found in this wonderful and intimate act?

Join us and find out!

“It’s OK to DOUBT but …”

Today in our “It’s OK to … but …” series: the topic of DOUBT.

Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

Luke 24:38 (ESV)

Belief and trust in God is a paramount tenet of the Christian faith, yet all Christians – all people! – doubt.

Does that mean we are no longer Christian?

Does that mean we have lost our faith?

As Christians, how can we still have faith and yet doubt?

Join us and see.
