1 CORINTHIANS — Part 4

I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.

1 Corinthians 9:22b

The Greeks valued the search and discussion for wisdom highly. Jews looked for signs of God’s power. People today may seek similar things and see in Christianity “foolishness” that meets neither.

But “Christ crucified” achieves those things and far more through the power and wisdom the Holy Spirit gives that the world doesn’t see!

Praise the Lord for HIS power, wisdom, and salvation through what the world sees as ‘foolishness’!

Scriptures

  • 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:16

Sweet!

Solomon is known for being the wisest man who lived (apart from Jesus, of course).

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psalm 119:103 (esv)

But being wise doesn’t always translate to being godly.

In fact, some of the wisest people foolishly separate themselves from the Source of that Wisdom – God!

Solomon lost track of the more important thing – seeking God and remaining in His Word instead of worldly wisdom, which is fleeting.

May we always seek and remain in His Words, which are sweeter than honey!
