NEW!! Sunday Church for Youth!

We’re stating something NEW at LifeBridge!

This is for youth, grades 6-10, who want another option on Sunday morning to sitting in church with mom and dad.

This group will meet during the same time as BridgeKidz and will meet in the youth room.

For our first series, “The Way I’m Wired,” students will discover how they are wired and how God strengthens them to live the life they were meant to live.

Every teenager’s life is loaded with undeniable evidence of God’s incredible plans for them, but who helps them unpack all those details to discover why they were born? “The Way I’m Wired” is a youth ministry curriculum that prepares you for the privilege of doing just that. The Bible lessons for youth equip you to teach students that God has three distinct calls on their life:

  1. the call of being transformed into Christ-likeness;
  2. the call of thriving in their seasonal roles; and
  3. the “This I Must Do” call to be part of something that is larger than themselves.

Join us in the adventure of uncovering God’s best for a youth’s life with these youth messages on identity. They – and you – will never be the same!

Special Congregational Voters’ Meeting

A special meeting of the voters of LifeBridge will be held on Sunday, February 16, following worship. (See Article XII. B. of the LB Constitution for more information on special meetings.)

There will be four items on the agenda: (More information on items 1-3 is below.)

  1. Request to approve the hire of the next LB Youth Leader
  2. Request for ratification and approval of a change to the Constitution & By-Laws of our national church body (“Synod”)
  3. A proposal for a PT director of communications and request for approval
  4. A status update regarding the possibility of the purchase of adjacent land

All are welcome to attend, though only members of LB may vote on issues.

Request to approve the hire of the next LB Youth Leader

On October 9, 2019, we posted information regarding the upcoming vacancy of the Youth Leader position at LifeBridge.

A search team was formed and received information on candidates. Following discussion, interviews, and prayers, the team came to a unanimous consensus in their recommendation, putting forth Giles Montgomery before the LB Board for their consideration.

At their monthly meeting on Monday, February 3, 2020, the Board unanimously (minus Giles’ abstention) endorsed this recommendation and now, in turn, will put forth that recommendation to the voters of LifeBridge.

Request for ratification and approval of a change to the Constitution of our national church body (“Synod”)

Every three years our national church body, “The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod” (“LCMS”), meets in convention to discuss policy, doctrine, pray, celebrate, and take care of other various church and administrative business.

At their meeting last summer (2019), needed changes to the Synodical Constitution and By-Laws was proposed and passed by the delegates. Since it is a change to the Constitution & By-Laws, a certain percentage of member congregations (including LifeBridge) must ratify these decisions before they are fully approved and can take effect.

These votes must be received by the Synod from member congregations by March 16.

Some general information can be found here: blogs.lcms.org/2019/official-notice-office-of-the-secretary-the-lutheran-church-missouri-synod/

Should you desire more detail as to the background and reasoning for the proposed changes, you can look at page 189 of this PDF. titled, “To Amend the Constitution to Address Individual Membership and Advisory Representation. Resolution 9-05”. {Catchy, right?!}

More explanation and information will be shared at the voters’ meeting.

A proposal for a PT director of communications and request for approval

Questions often come up regarding if we have sermons available online and why don’t we post more on social media. The short answer is that, although we do record most of the messages, we don’t do anything with them. Additionally, we don’t have anyone who is regularly updating our main social ministry channels. These things take time, willingness, and expertise – and the right person to do them.

We know that when we have videos that are professional and they are posted, we see increased interest and engagement. We also know that these things do not “just happen” and that to do it right takes some specific talent and expertise.

While LifeBridge can’t do everything, we feel it is important to cover this area of ministry. The LB Pastor and Board are proposing the creation of a PT position to cover some of these areas. If approved, the position will be posted and the person will be hired on a probationary period set by the Board.

Youth Leader Position Available

The position for Youth Leader is open and available for fulfillment.

Following the departure of our previous leader, Caleb Swan, Ryan Pacher and others have graciously and awesomely stepped up to fill the void and ensure continuity of the program.

Ryan is in his last year of law school and due to his time and other commitments, is no longer able to continue in this position. The other volunteer leaders are also not able to take on this added position and responsibility at this time.

A Job Description PDF is here. Please direct all inquiries to the LifeBridge Board of Directors: board@lifebridgesealy.com.

Swans Are Alaska Bound!

You’ve heard the news: the Swans are heading to Alaska, and we want to send them off right!

After worship on Sunday, August 11, we are having a catered luncheon to thank the Lord for the Swans and send them off with love.

[NOTE: RSVP for the meal is now closed.]

Also, we invite you to bring a “love gift” that day in the form of a card, note, and/or financial gift (given to them directly, not to LifeBridge) so they can take our affirmations with them to their new home and ministry.

If you missed the original letter, you can read it below.

Please read the note below from our beloved Caleb & Sofia Swan.

Dear LifeBridge Family,

It is with both tears and joy that we write to inform you that God is calling us away from our LifeBridge family and is moving us to serve Him in Anchorage, Alaska. God has called Caleb into full time ministry to serve and lead the youth at ChangePoint Alaska.

Although this is hard for both us and LifeBridge, we know that we need to follow wherever God is leading us. We thank all of you for accepting us with love into the LifeBridge family and always supporting the ministries we led. God has done amazing things through LifeBridge and we are so thankful for getting to be a part of it. We know that God is going to continue to bless LifeBridge and its ministries and we are excited to see His plans through all of this.

Our last day with you will be Sunday, August 11th. We hope to see you then to say our goodbyes. Please keep us and LifeBridge in your prayers through this transition as we pursue what the Lord has for us.

Blessings,

Caleb & Sofia Swan
